Get ready to be inspired. Hello, and welcome to the Inspired Woman podcast show with me, Sam Bell. And this week, I am very happy to introduce a lady who's inspired me over many years, and she's just too good not to share with you.
Her name is Karen Newells, and she is an angelic guide, visionary, alchemist, and a badassery sacred rebel who loves to flirt and play with the divine. She has this deep devotion through her sacred knowledge to walk her path, perhaps quirky and different than most. She is also a certified practitioner of the Kuan Yin transmission and Saraswati healing, Karuna Reiki master, and certified Akashic records practitioner.
She is also a divine channel healing through the mysteries of life itself, and has a huge passion for teaching, learning, loving, and growing on this earth to live her divine destiny and embrace empowerment by serving others, aka her self authentic expression, which she loves to empower you to find within yourself. Karen, welcome. Oh my gosh, thank you.
My first thing is like, you're such a beautiful, heartfelt joy for me. When you say that, thank you. I just love when I have my guests, and I always say, you know, this podcast, I don't know how long it'll run for, but I just feel that there are so many people that have inspired me in my journey, and that they have to be shared.
And if there's just one person out there that listens to this show and feels that they're inspired by you, Karen, in our conversation, job is done. And we met, so I have to share with our listeners that we first met, I haven't calculated the years, but it's quite possibly over 10 years ago, and you did my very first ever card reading. Yes, yeah.
And I remember, and this has just come to me, I remember you saying, are you a healer? And I remember saying, no. And then as the reading went through, I let slip that I was a nurse and a midwife. You said, so you are a healer.
I'm like, oh, I suppose I am. That was one of my first sort of awakenings to, I suppose at that time I was so spiritually closed off. If somebody said I was a healer, it sounded a little bit weird and out there.
But the funny thing is that after that, I then became a Reiki master, and you were my master at TSM. So, Karen, I've got to ask you, what or who inspires you? Oh my gosh, I've gone through deep reflection with this, because I feel like it's such a, it's such a beautiful question. I feel like it's so deep in the heart, and I find our soul's growth is our inspiration.
I feel like it's not necessarily what, but it can be. I feel like it's like the cauldron of love and inspiration, and it's our soul's growth, it's our transformation. It's just a beautiful, alchemical destiny.
That's what I really feel, so inspirational. And then really tapping into that wisdom, and I find like, for example, we were kind of just quickly sharing beforehand the goddess, Sarah's body. We both have her on our- Oh, she's both, she's on both our walls.
Yeah, and you know, just, you know, she's that beautiful goddess of like creativity, inspiration, sound, our breath. So, you know, finding an inspiration, that creative space is, it's just, it's our growth. It's who we are, it's our essence.
It's like, it's just remembering our true self, and that is extremely liberating. So I just find like, it's our value. It's just so much inspiration, and when we feel really inspired about something, we wanna bring it to the world.
So to be able to tap into that, you know, through our growth and for example, how I love to find my inspiration is, I mean, it's taken a long time to find that, you know? It's a deep part of like, when I first started teaching Reiki, even the very first time I did a reading on you, I was just kind of stepping in my power and trusting that I could do readings. And the universe brings me the most beautiful person, you know? So you are such an inspiration for me. You know, the universe is, you know, I could talk forever on this, but I find like, you know, going through our growth, our challenges, I always feel, this is where I call it like sitting in the cauldron.
It's that magical space of the light within us. So through my challenges of grief, what I'm moving through, the patience, the timing, you know, I just, I know I wanna move through something and, you know, we're healers, you know? It's part of our beautiful purpose, you know? So I would say, I want to create something through how I'm feeling, because I know deep inside, it's like the essence of maybe that beautiful pearl inside of our heart. It's just that, you know, it has to go through a lot to find that essence within and then right through it, be the inspiration for others and, or just for the world.
And I know what we do, like you said, for inspiration, it does benefit all spiritual beings. I deeply and profoundly love that inspiration of really listening to what's true to you. Mm-hmm.
I mean, I've had some amazing guests on this show so far and everybody has a different take on inspiration, but one of the things that has come through for me is feeling inspired. I realized that that was one of my core desired feelings when I, years ago, when I studied with Danielle Laporte and I was one of her facilitators, feeling inspired, it just made things happen with ease and flow and made me feel, like you say, not powerful, but stepping into my power, which is, I think, quite different, especially in this world today. You know, power has become such an important thing in politics and, you know, religion.
I'm not going to go there, but to actually step into your power implies that you're a being who doesn't necessarily crave it, but wants to step into it to provide it to others and share it. It's not a patriarchal, I'm more powerful than you. I love that saying of stepping into your power and when I feel inspired, I feel that I can do that.
The words come more easily and effortlessly. I smile more. I feel more connected with people and that's when I do my best writing, my best speaking, my best everything, really, you know? So I love the alchemy and for me, as soon as you said that alchemy and inspiration, I was getting that feeling of that reciprocity and how beautiful inspiration flows between beings.
Yes. Oh my goodness. I feel that's like Sarasvati in us.
She is our sound. She's our divine timing. Yeah, she's our growth.
She's just, you know, it's like mother earth. It's just that, and you know what I, you know, so I'm hearing like, even through our roadblocks, could that be creative, inspiring space? Right, tap deeper into that. I always loved it.
Here's the badass Rhea, I love that word because I am, I like that, like, okay, like, I know this can create profound benefit, like everything I feel, right? Everything I know, you know, even through just that deep surrender and creating profound benefit and letting go the inspiration. Like it's like, I actually see Ascended Master Merlin. He's coming through, right? He's just, he really helps us read the energy.
So our inspirational heart, I mean, he's coming through. So that would be a beautiful Ascended Master to work with if someone feels guided, you know, and or through Sarasvati or, I mean, through who they feel guided. It doesn't have to be that because, you know, no two paths are the same.
And I find that inspirational and liberating, right? So we can go into the depth of where we just find our, I feel it like the, oh, what do I want to call it? It's just this radiant joy. It's like the ocean of consciousness. I don't know, it's just a beautiful wisdom that we can all receive, you know, and it's our essence.
It's what we bring to the table. And I love how you talked about the authority, you know, and the power. And one thing I have really transformational and learning still is the inner authority, like the inner space, right? Like reclaiming our power through that.
It's just going more in within, right? And the, it's, you know, connecting to earth and father sky, you know, to the, you know, just having that beautiful bridge between heaven and earth and just seeing it like waves of inspiration, you know, that changes that outlook of power, right? We are really extremely powerful, I think more than we know. And I have experienced that, but not in the way of standing over someone else or being higher than someone else or better than someone else. It's like, ah, it's just such a transformational, beautiful essence that, you know, when you just walk into the room, it just, people feel it.
There's like, you know, your challenges, your growth, even those around you that really struggle or you struggle with, the inner authority. It's just sound. That's why I really want to go into that love.
We talked about love. Oh, yes, this episode is going to be airing. It'll drop on the 14th, February the 14th.
I really feel like that gorgeous space of, you know, loving humanity, right? Being in that space. I feel it's like, I'm seeing it like, you know, Jesus and Mary Magdalene, how they walk the earth. You know, it's that, oh my goodness, it's such a powerful, beautiful essence just to remember to go within the inner authority, right? Through our challenges and just seeing others transform in their own way, right? And the grace that comes through them just by being you and your voice.
And yeah, it just creates profound benefit. I love, I love that space. It's so inspiring.
Yeah, absolutely. And it's all about loving, you know, I kept coming to the point where even those that have been horrific to me, I deeply love them. Don't have to like them.
But I still say, oh my God, it is powerful. It's so gorgeous. I don't know how to explain it.
I know, I mean, I'm going off, well, we haven't got a script. We never have a script on this show. We just trust that we're going to be guided to discuss what somebody out there needs to hear.
But I had a guest a little while ago and we were talking about forgiveness. And I remember somebody telling me that I was stuck and unless I could move forward and forgive the person who had spent all of her life with me, exerting her power. And I fought back.
I fought back. I was, you know, I thought that I was a little victim, but I wasn't. I was, yeah, I was feisty and I gave her hell.
I'm sorry, mom. But she really brought out the worst in me and I brought out the worst in her. But I remember somebody saying that I needed to forgive.
And I remember thinking of forgiveness as being something fickle almost. And, you know, it's something that makes everything okay. Everything's all right again, you know, and everybody's friends and smiling and we'll all move on and we don't go back and visit it.
Whereas I've realised that forgiveness is something that you are now touching on in this conversation. It's something so deep and so profound. And it's that recognition that somebody else is on their journey and that they are, they have their struggles and they are just doing the best that they possibly can, you know, just like we all are.
And I think that for me has been the root of forgiveness. But I've got to talk. Cindy is my business partner and we were doing a live podcast the other day and she was talking about love because this is love.
And she quoted from the Course in Miracles. I have not read, I've just bought the Idiot's Guide to it. It's a very good book.
But there's obviously a lot of wisdom in there. She said, there is only one real emotion on the planet, love. All the negative emotions are derivatives of fear under an illusion.
And I just, it made me stop in my tracks because there's a lot of talk out there about, you know, we need to heal from the heart centre. We need to be more loving of our neighbours. We need, this is the way that we need to move forward, talking about authoritarians again.
But, you know, it seems a bit of a cliche. Love is the only emotion on the planet. But when you think about it, that's exactly what inspiration is, right? Yes.
Oh my goodness. Right. I opened up a big cold one now.
It's a big definition, love, I think, hey? Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, yeah, isn't this beautiful though? I feel it's like, I would work with the saints and sages with that. I don't know, I feel that, right? Like through the poetic space. So you can work through poetry, through dance, through movement, through mantras, through writing, through drawing, right? Through painting, how, you know, I feel like what an essence of love.
I actually could see this as something like so fun. Oh, yes. Here's an inspiration that comes through.
And I love to teach people about creativity, right? And them to find themselves, like their own space, who they are, it doesn't matter. We have the same path, like we don't, you know? And, oh my God, can you imagine just, I see this as, we could use that quote. That would be so beautiful.
And create a sacred space, right? In your home or wherever people are in nature and make it as a creative offering from the heart, from the meaning of love, right? And make that as a gorgeous offering. Maybe people play with like their Oracle deck, whatever they feel guided to do, right? That is the essence of the heart. To me, that feels like love, right? And then making it like a dedication that it benefits all spiritual beings, right? Let it be like just a beautiful pillar of light coming through and let it be the growth.
And, you know, it just needs to blossom. Maybe it's a seed being planted. That's something that's just going to just be your inspiration.
I, like, I love that alchemy. And it's, and the biggest part is letting go of what it will come, what it'll become, you know? Just, oh my God, and prayer. Prayer is big.
Prayer, oh my goodness. Prayer is so powerful. It's probably one of the most beautiful alchemies I've ever experienced is just praying.
Let it come, like, of course, in divine timing. But it is, especially when we really let go. Oh, here's the definition of prayer.
Let's get inspirational with this. I love this. And I remember reading this in the Kuan Yin Transmission, which I've taken the practitioner course to Alana Fairchild, but in her book, I believe it's within Mother Mary.
So that goes deep into the beautiful, you know, self-love and love and grace, mercy, healing. Prayer, when we identify it with an outcome, it's, you know what I mean? Yes, yeah. We don't want to just, you know, for an example, I want my daughter to go to a certain university.
May she please go to, you know, it's letting go of the attachment of where that is and, you know, saying, may she find the most beautiful education wherever that may be. You know, that kind of prayer. May the world heal the way the world needs to heal without the attachment of what we think it should be.
That's power. Do you know what I mean? It's just like- Yeah, because I always, when I hear a prayer, I think of, you know, kneeling by the bed at night and before you go to sleep with your hands, you know, together and praying. And then I had a memory the other day.
Oh my goodness, you'll laugh at this, Karen. I don't know why, but I woke up and I was reciting the Lord's Prayer in Welsh. Nice, ooh.
And I thought, why has this come to me? And I'm thinking, bloody hell, I can remember the Lord's Prayer in Welsh, but I can't remember the password I set on my computer the day before. You know, it's like, but yeah. And I just remember the prayer was always something very religious and very rigid that you had to do, which I learned the Lord's Prayer in Welsh and English because I was educated in Wales and that was what you had to learn.
So you learned it verbatim. You didn't understand the words. You just knew that this word came after the other and before the next.
It was just, yeah. And I think that I've come to realize that the old prayer of saying when you really want something, and like you say, you have that attachment, that now has become to me more of assessing an intention. Yes.
And, you know, alchemizing, you know, manifesting. Absolutely. Whereas what I think I'm hearing you say is that prayer is more of a way, a vehicle to express what you're feeling or what is inside of yourself.
Yes. Does that make sense? Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. I need to be such a, and I love using the word like intention as well too. Maybe people don't identify with prayer the same.
But yeah, I find it just, it's a deep surrender though of, and the attachment of what we, you know, there's something so much better, right? When I look at that beautiful space of, I'm going to call it sacred union, right? We have, there's maybe we have two choices and we're not sure which way to go, but sometimes there's a third choice we're not aware of, you know, where the universe does, we know what to bring us. So I pray for joy, like I'm praying for a new home. I'm praying for, but maybe I don't know exactly where that's going to be.
I have maybe my eyes set on where I want to be, but the universe knows where, you know, I'm going to find the most beautiful space that's going to, it's just going to manifest, you know? So my intent is, you know, just the positivity of what, but not having the outcome. Yeah, and it's, that's inspired growth for us too. But I always say to say true to you, if people find they like it to do another way, that they should do that.
That's their inspiration, right? There's no right or wrong way. Really, really loved that wisdom of like, I found I didn't, I liberated myself more, not to have any attachment to an outcome, right? Through prayer, but I love it. Or I'll just say universe, please show me the next step.
That could be a prayer, even if it's just a baby step. Yes. Show that to me.
May not be what I think it's going to be, but that's where I need to go. And that way you're never disappointed. No, so same sort of thing, right? So we don't have to identify with prayer.
People like to do prayer. Yeah. Trusting in the timing, timing is a big one.
And the grace that can come through with that. Yes. It's so inspirational.
Because I hear you say a lot about divine timing, and I always say divine timing, and we're on universe time, right? We don't know when things are going to happen, and we just have to trust that we put the request out there for a beautiful home or for that beautiful person, for whatever. And it doesn't mean it's going to come next week. We may have to wait a little while, but the thing is to trust.
And that's another thing, trust. Trust is another big piece of love, right? And I just, going back there to the point about disappointment, my ex-husband, God love you, Gareth, I don't know if you'll ever be listening to this, but he would always say that he would, I always used to say, oh, you're such a pessimist. He was the ultimate pessimist, but he said, well, if I look at everything as being half empty, I'll never be disappointed.
And going back to that course in miracles, all the negative emotions are derivatives of fear and an illusion. That's exactly what it is, is that fear of not getting what you ask for, that fear of getting less than, or bigger than that, not deserving, something that you're asking for. So that's just a little aha moment.
That to me is inspiration when you get those little aha moments there. I want to take you back to the spaces. We originally talked about doing this podcast and we were going to call it Inspiring Spaces.
Yes, yeah. Because you have this ability to create a beautiful space and you spoke about finding a sacred space in your home. What could that look like to somebody? What can they do to have that creative space? I'm calling it a creative space, but that's inspired space, sacred space, where they can be at one with themselves and become creative.
I love that. Well, there's so many ways. It could be, oh my gosh, like it could be anything creative.
So it doesn't actually, the sacred space doesn't actually have to be a place in their home. For example, I just did a reading not that long ago and we were working with the angels of diet and nutrition. I had seen her, like I mentioned it to her, like they were showing me to create, so through her food.
So every time she's cooking, make that like a creative sacred space, right? In her heart and helping her heal her health. You know, it just goes to those beautiful layers, you know? So every time she's cooking and creating, that's her sacred space. She identified with that.
And she's like, oh my gosh, I can see myself doing that. Feeling that, you know, it can be a beautiful space in your home. You know, I would say, you know, if you have a statue, even just a candle, maybe some flowers, a picture, you know, and you make it as a dedication, right? Like the consistency of every time you see it, you know, you just walk by and you remember, there's my faith, there's my trust, there's my growth.
I love that. I have like a beautiful green Buddha. I call her Tara.
And some, you know, she has like this, I just sometimes I'll put a crystal on her. Sometimes I will write out something like my pain, where I really want to move through something because I'm feeling this anxiety in me. And, you know, I don't know why it's not leaving.
It's just there. And I know that's my growth, right? I have to trust the timing of it. So I will write something out, you know, like dear Tara or, you know, Archangel Raphael or whoever people want to identify with.
And just heartfelt, please help me. Please help me, you know, let me see the joy, you know, help me do whatever it is that you need. Or, you know, I want to find more of my purpose or I just typically want to move through something, especially if I know it's karmic.
Oh, I love the liberation when it comes to that. And there is divine timing with it. And I'll just kind of, you know, set that beside my statue, maybe with the crystal on top.
And every time I walk by it, it's a reminder that I've given that to the universe and it's in their hands and I know I can trust. So every time I go into my fear mode, or I need to be found, you know, I just walk by that and I see that. Yeah, it might just be meditation.
You know, it might be just having that sacred bath. Oh my God, making alchemy, you know, in a sacred bath. You know, it's connecting to nature.
That can be such a sacred space too, wherever that may be. Even a sacred space could be your heart of just taking like a few moments of gratitude. Because a lot of people sometimes they don't have a lot of time for that.
You know, it could be in the car or you're waiting for your kids to be picked up from school or, you know, it's just been really crazy in the home and you just need some space, you know. Just, oh my God, gratitude, right? What am I so grateful for? You know, and can I go deeper into how is my challenge? How can I be so grateful for my challenges? You know, there's, yeah, I could even see like, you know, yeah, making an offering, sitting with your oracle decks, doing a reading, you know. I feel like it just kind of comes, oh, maybe you're working out, you're a fitness person.
I love to work out. I've gotten really inspirational with that. And I used to, I worked with the angels to help me do that.
Like to just alleviate a lot of my emotions, right? To feel stronger. I want to take care of my body. So I find like, you know, you could do something fun when you're at the gym.
There's my core piece. I mean, like, make your intention and like, okay. I surround myself with beautiful red light before I go to the gym.
I find red light really repels negativity and attracts only good and, you know, high vibrational things into your life. So I love to work with that. So that's my, you know, that could be my creative space when I'm working at the gym.
So then finally I'll pick up everybody else's projections or emotions, you know, quite the same. And I can just be in my joy, you know? And there's so many ways. I feel like it's limitless.
I find people will find it themselves, but yeah. It's just whatever brings them joy, you know? But I mean, setting an altar up, I think it's a great space. And it's just that dedication, lighting a candle, you know, just making a simple intention.
It's sacred. And you're creating that sacred space. And one of the most important things I really learned before we sit down to do this work, find that sense of gratitude, right? If we come and we're all flurried, we're flustered, we're angry and we're pulling out our angel cards, it's like, I'm bringing in the right energy.
You know, we need to take the time, connect, breathe, you know, get really into the heart. And it's just, anything could be an altar. So, oh, I know.
So a little, we're coming to the end.
